Abidjan, 19 July 2025 – The road safety prevention campaign that started last April, in which Betclic Côte d'Ivoire participated, concludes today. In total, 6000 helmets have been offered to motorcyclists to enhance their protection on a daily basis in the context of their professional activities.

A concrete and sustainable commitment for local communities With 26.6 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, Africa has the highest road mortality rate in the world1. In Côte d'Ivoire, the figures are alarming: there are more than 12,000 road accidents every year, with a significant number involving motorbikes, which are very prevalent in urban and suburban transport.

In this context, Betclic wanted to take concrete action to protect the most vulnerable users and support national prevention efforts. Launched on 26 April in Bouaké, the campaign has travelled through the cities of Daloa, Korhogo and San-Pedro, to meet motorcycle taxi drivers and cyclists. At each stage, alongside authorities and civil society organizations, free helmet distributions were organized for transport professionals in these 4 cities, accompanied by awareness sessions on the good behaviours to adopt on the road.

A useful operation, set to be renewed

“Citizens expect major brands to demonstrate societal commitment alongside public authorities. Even though road safety is not at the core of Betclic's business, we wanted, as a leading local economic player, to support this ambitious initiative, which concretely helps protect thousands of road users every year. The very warm welcome received in each partner city has shown that this initiative meets a genuine daily need” explains Kadi Kotondi, Country Manager of Betclic Côte d'Ivoire.

This project is part of a larger set of CSR actions undertaken by Betclic, as demonstrated recently with its #SAFERGAMING campaign aimed at promoting responsible gaming to the general public. Building on the success of this first edition, Betclic Côte d'Ivoire plans to renew this initiative in other regions.
