Lisbon, 18 September 2025 – Betclic will be present at the Tribeca Festival Lisboa with the premiere of the documentary Feel the Magic: Ticha Penicheiro – Against All Odds, a tribute to one of the greatest figures in Portuguese basketball and current ambassador of the Liga Betclic.
Directed by André Braz, this documentary charts the journey of the athlete who dared to dream and built a leading international career in the WNBA. Against all odds, Ticha Penicheiro has made history in sport, both in Portugal and around the world, being regarded as one of the best players in the Women’s National Basketball Association.
This year, the festival is enriched by a new cinema room: The Chapel by Betclic, located in the chapel of the Convento do Beato. From 30 October to 1 November, visitors will be able to discover exclusive film previews that promise to mark the cinematic landscape of 2025, in a completely renovated space unveiled to the public for the first time.
The room The Chapel by Betclic has been designed to move and surprise, with particular attention paid to comfort and the viewing experience, as well as the quality of sound and projection.
“Betclic is much more than a sports betting site and we believe that entertainment and inspiration go hand in hand. We will always support projects like the Tribeca Festival that feed the passion of athletes, fans, and communities,” emphasises Tiago Simões, Country Manager of Betclic.
“This partnership is a natural extension of our investment in Betclic Studios, our segment entirely dedicated to content production, from short to feature films, that tell the story of people defying the odds,” he adds.
For Mónica Serrano, Marketing and Communication Director of IMPRESA, “The story of Ticha Penicheiro is a powerful testament to overcoming oneself and inspiration, and it is with immense honour that we partner with Betclic for the presentation of this documentary at the Tribeca Festival Lisboa. We believe in the power of stories that inspire and transform, and this is undoubtedly one such example.”
In addition to the documentary dedicated to athlete Ticha Penicheiro, the programming includes new films by Fernando Vendrell, Yorgos Lanthimos, Michel Franco, and Scarlett Johansson, as well as the first screening in Portugal of the highly anticipated series Sandokan: The Pirate Prince, featuring Can Yaman and Ed Westwick.
Tickets for individual cinema sessions will go on sale on 22 September. In the meantime, the Cinema Pack I and II are available; they provide access to 6 and 3 sessions of your choice, respectively.
Tickets can be purchased at www.tribecalisboa.pt, on BOL, and at the usual points of sale.
